Chalet love in Alaska
What happens when an ex-NHL star leaves his old life behind to move to Alaska and start over? What Jared Zykov certainly didn’t expect was to find a deaf girl in his grandmother’s house and a fight over muffins. Nor did he expect to grow to love not only the town, a narcissistic cat, and a homeless baby goat, but also Hartley Knight.
Hartley:
He broke into my house, ate my muffin, kicked me out, then let me back in and offered to let me spend the night.
My first thought was that this guy was crazy, my second thought was I was crazy for wanting his company since the moment I met him.
He keeps following me around and I’m starting to think I don’t even mind anymore. But, we are from two different worlds. He’s got the NHL and I’ve got my life here in Alaska. How do the two fit together?
Jared:
When I went to my grandmother’s summer house, I grabbed a muffin that I didn’t know was not mine. When I first saw Hartley, I thought she was just a crazy fan who might be trying to get into bed with me. But what was I thinking? Definitely not that I was quickly falling for a girl who was deaf and had no idea what I was saying most of the time. I also was not thinking about how easy it would be to leave the NHL world behind and start a new life after my injury. And I certainly didn’t think that my crazy ex would want me back. But my heart belongs to Hartley now, and I’m ready to prove it.
