Worthy Cause

(This is ten days after George's second surgery to remove tumors near his left kidney. Believe it or not, the third surgery was worse.)

In 2004, a man named George married the woman of his dreams. Two weeks later he was diagnosed with cancer. They never got a honeymoon. For the next five years, the couple would spend their time between hospitals and courtrooms. You see, as soon as George's cancer was discovered, his ex-wife petitioned a Florida court to take everything the newlywed couple owned, including their home. Together, George and his wife struggled to protect the only thing that kept them from becoming homeless. Eventually, they failed in their efforts. They lost their jobs, their home, their car, and now all of their hope is gone, too. The courts did not care that George had cancer, and by the time a judge made a final decision, George's cancer was considered terminal. This unethical, remorseless judge in an unfair court system put a dying man out in the streets with no money, no medical support, and nowhere to turn. His wife is now his only caregiver, and despite the trauma of events of the past five years, she steadfastly remains at his side.

The oncologists say that nothing more can be done for George. But we say there is one more thing that can be done. Mankind can give George back the hope he lost in humanity.

There was a time when societies took care of their sick, their old, their weak. That doesn't exist anymore. These days the weak are preyed upon: the sick are preyed on by the medical community, the poor are preyed on by the legal system, and there is little regard for human life.

George has a wish...to see the Redwoods. If you would like to donate and help make George's wish come true, please click the donate button and offer whatever you feel led to offer. You aren't just making a donation to help a homeless man with cancer. You are helping to restore a man's faith in people, and to restore his hope in humanity.

We are hoping to generate enough money to buy George and his wife a van. Some kind people have generously offered to modify this van and turn it into a mini-camper so that George and his wife will have a roof over their heads. Not only will this van provide them with a home and keep a man with terminal cancer out of the homeless shelter, but this van will allow George's wife to drive him across the country so that he can see the Redwoods. But time is running out. Please make your donation now before this man's dream is lost to him.

May the blessings of the universe be yours to enjoy. And thank you for taking the time to read this letter.

Bring back humanity. Bring back hope. Bring back fellowship and love.
